The world is in the midst of a pandemic and the economic woes are being felt around every corner, including our patients and our clinics. Times are changing and consumer patterns will forever be altered. Gone are the times of densely crowded waiting rooms to see the doctor! Enter, the “boutique” style clinic that sees less patients, provides superior cleanliness and gets faster more effective results.
How do you survive?
Your patients will gladly spend more money for better results in a safe clean environment.
How do you justify charging more?
Even in a time of economic uncertainty, now is the time to double down on yourself and your clinic. Come out swinging in this “new” normal!
Invest in technology, get people out of pain faster and more effectively than your competition and see your practice thrive.
What technology will get you great results, differentiate you from the competition and be at the right price?
In this series of articles I will be exploring new and innovative technology that will help improve outcomes and catch the attention of your patients.
In my first article, I want to introduce clinicians to a brand-new technology to the US market called Winback. The company was launched in Europe in 2013 and quickly installed 400 systems over the first 2 years. Winback is a staple technology in all manual therapy clinics across Europe and Asia and they are now bringing their unmatched treatment methods to North America.
Winback technology is a generator of high frequency sinusoidal current with a monopolar mode of application. The goal of the system is to eliminate pain, increase range of motion and heal injuries. Obviously, these are the goals of most technologies! The difference maker is the way Winback achieves those results.
Winback operates at higher frequencies than traditional therapies. The energy produced by Winback technology varies between 300 kHz and 1,000kHz. This energy is coined “Winback energy” and the unit allows you to transfer the therapy into your patient’s body in various ways, thus making it the most versatile treatment system on the market.
The winback system has 2 modes: CET (Capacitive Electrical Transfer) and RET (Resistive Electrical Transfer). Combining CET and RET with the various frequencies, the therapist can treat tissues at different depths in order to affect soft and hard tissues.
The system allows the provider many ways to treat patients, but overall Winback breaks it down to essentially 6 ways the therapist can transfer energy. For the purpose of this article let me discuss my three favorites which make this technology stand out.
My personal favorite is the Double RET: Manual mode. Muscle contractures are released, trigger points are broken and scar tissue adhesions melt under your hands in a matter of seconds.
Another great option on the Winback unit, is what they coined as Fascia Skills. This is a genius innovation which applies Winback energy through a physioblade in order to enhance the traditional form of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. The tool has a RET connection and transfers Winback energy through the blade to help treat fibrosis, adhesions, tendinopathies, etc.
Over the years, Winback technology has continued to evolve and they are making a strong case to be considered one of the best cutting edge devices when it comes to soft tissue injuries. Their research and development is as good as it gets, as clinicians will witness with the newest addition called the RET choc. This unique probe delivers fractional energy which works on areas of precise scar tissue, spasm or trigger points. It delivers a hyperthermic shock deep into the tissue, along with sending an electrical impulse at the same time to regain optimal elasticity.
After following Winback’s expansion in Europe and Asia, I have no doubt Winback will be the go-to piece of technology for manual therapists. Effective, versatile and extremely affordable, Winback units will change how manual therapists treat soft tissue injuries.
